Fake Webcam – virtual webcam software
Having a webcam is not an unusual thing nowadays. That's because web cameras have become extremely advanced, while their price got lower and lower. But even having the most advanced HD webcam doesn't solve a problem, and that's having a video displayed or the desktop instead of the actual webcam video. Fortunately, this problem can be solved through software applications. A program that can display video files or the live desktop as a webcam is Fake Webcam. You don't have to read the software's specs in order to find out what this program is all about because the name says it all. It's a virtual webcam that can be used with almost any software that supports webcam broadcasting, like Yahoo Messenger or Skype.
Being a Windows application, Fake Webcam is compatible with basically all the versions of it. You don't have to wait forever to install this application because after a few clicks, the program will be installed into the system.
When running Fake Webcam for the first time, it will ask the user to enter his email address. Without doing this, the software will not be able to work. After completing this step, one will be left with an interface which consists of a graphical toolbar and a preview window. Loading one of the many video formats supported by Fake Webcam into its interface will display a preview of the video. Thus, the user will know exactly what he is playing.
Besides loading multiple video files, Fake Webcam supports displaying the desktop in real time. This feature is useful for showing a bug to a program producer or just for showing a certain piece of information to someone, for example, a desktop wallpaper or application window. Fake Webcam is virtually compatible with all communication software that support the webcam feature, like YM or Skype.
The options section of Fake Webcam allows setting the frame rate that will be used for playing the video.
Pros:

When I first got into chatting, I tried many others. I ended up using Fake Webcam for years.There are a couple things I would add to it if I were the developer so i emailed them and got nice responses. Great program with good support and current releases = Great choice.
